Head of Health and Safety

We're looking for an exceptional individual to lead health and safety for KCC. You'll play a pivotal role in determining our organisational priorities, to guarantee the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees and customers across a diverse range of services and environments.

As the Head of Health and Safety, you will report to the Director of HR and Organisational Development and will be responsible for providing strategic advice and direction on all matters relating to health and safety. You will make sure the organisation is compliant with all relevant regulations and standards, and foster a positive culture of safety throughout the organisation.

You will need to:

  • have a thorough knowledge of health and safety and risk management
  • hold a relevant health and safety qualification (NEBOSH Diploma, CMIOSH or equivalent)
  • be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the issues facing large, complex organisations to effectively manage quality standards, health and safety, and risk management at all levels.

You will also need to demonstrate the experience and ability to lead and manage the service and its professional advisers. Key responsibilities will include:

  • leading the health and safety agenda for KCC
  • identifying the health and safety implications of legislative changes and best practice
  • providing  expert advice on complex technical matters and developing innovative and effective outcome-focussed solutions in response to new and emerging health and safety issues
  • leading a talented team of health and safety professionals to deliver our ambitious health and safety agenda to ensure organisation compliance with health and safety.
