Surveyors

Big County. Big Opportunity. Drive the change that matters.

A few words from Rebecca Spore, Director of Infrastructure

Thank you for your interest in joining our property team.

Kent is the largest county council in the UK, which is an ambitious and highly influential county that plays a key part in the UK economy. With 1.5 million residents living in Kent, we are committed and focused on improving lives by ensuring that every pound spent in Kent is delivering better outcomes for our residents, communities, and businesses.

In May 2022, we set out our 4-year Strategy Framing Kent’s Future to deliver our priorities to improve life in Kent and build a solid foundation for the county’s future success. This provides Infrastructure exciting opportunities to:

  • Level-up Kent
  • provide the right infrastructure for our communities
  • make an environmental step change
  • work with new models of care and support to effectively manage our people-based services.

We have a large and diverse property portfolio and are at a pivotal point in our property asset management cycle, responding to service delivery changes to modernise our services and adapt to the current financial context of the council and the way that we deliver our services post COVID-19. The Property Infrastructure Directorate is already very busy delivering change to its estate and in “Framing Kent’s Future’s” implementation, the estate shape will change significantly. We are therefore looking for a number of qualified surveyors who want to make that difference with us and be at the forefront of the transformation of how we manage our property portfolio and our disposal pipeline.

Rebecca Spore Director of Infrastructure

To achieve this the variety of work will be broad from working to improve the performance and function of existing assets, acquisitions and so forth to rationalising and disposing of surplus assets, raising capital for reinvestment in the council's core services.

Candidates should be committed individuals who are commercially astute, politically aware and relish the opportunity to collaborate with a range of stakeholders to support the delivery of the strategic direction for the county, deliver value for money solutions and meet current and future business outcomes.

In return you can expect a rewarding and challenging career with us with a great opportunity for professional development. We also offer a comprehensive and competitive range of benefits to suit all circumstances.

If you feel you have the skills required to deliver our exciting plans, we would be delighted to hear from you.
