School crossing patrols

Our school crossing patrol service has a large team of dedicated community-minded people ensuring the safety of children on the way to and from school. We’re looking for more enthusiastic people to join our wonderful team.

We are keen to hear from you if you:

• can demonstrate traffic awareness
• have a sense of responsibility
• want to help make a difference in the local community
• are committed to carrying out the very important job of making the roads of Kent safer for children.

Some basic IT skills and a personal email address are also required.

Working hours

Road crossing patrol working hours vary depending on the school site (see current vacancies below).

The role is for 38 weeks per year.

The morning and afternoon split nature of the role offers flexibility to fit around your current lifestyle. Most roles would also be suitable for appropriate job share arrangements.

As you will be working a short-split shift throughout the day, you will need to be able to arrive at the crossing site in a timely manner to be there ready for school drop off and pick up times.

Pay and benefits

If your application is successful, you will be paid within Kent Scheme Grade KSA, which is currently pro-rata for £13.56 per hour for the hours worked, or £26,168 for a full-time equivalent appointment. For example, for a 7.5 hours per week contract, the annual salary is approximately £4,435 per year.

A uniform is provided to protect you against the elements.
