Looking after your wellbeing

How are you?

It’s a question we often ask each other. The first time we’re asked it’s often taken to be a greeting to which we tend to reply “Fine, thanks, how are you?” But if you’re then immediately asked the same thing, you may consider the question differently: “but how are you really?”.

We’re really interested in our employees’ answers to that second question. That’s why we work hard to improve physical, mental, social and financial wellbeing in the workplace, and to ensure staff remain happy and motivated at work.

Our health and wellbeing is important and there are lots of resources to help you look after yourself at work and make choices that support a healthier lifestyle.

It's everyone's responsibility

Health and wellbeing is everyone’s responsibility and to be able to deliver quality services, we all need to be as healthy and well as possible at work. Building and maintaining our resilience is key to health and wellbeing and we want to support everyone to build resilience both inside and outside of work.

Join us and you’ll find a range of ways we help support your wellbeing including:

  • Learning - We offer a range of e-learning courses to promote healthy living. These range from personal resilience, smoking awareness, healthy living, confidence building and many more. We have also gathered lots of information and resources to support you, all available through our intranet.
  • Listening - We carry out working and wellbeing surveys to better understand the issues our colleagues are facing. One of things we asked for recently was colleagues’ tips and suggestions to help support wellbeing during lockdown, and we received over 1,260 useful tips and ideas. There were some great suggestions in there, not just for during lockdown but as we continue to look after ourselves longer term.
  • Prevention - Our approach to enhancing the physical and mental wellbeing of our workforce with a view to improving employee attendance, engagement and performance focuses mainly on prevention. We do this by helping managers create an environment and culture that improves and supports employee wellbeing and by helping people make healthy lifestyle choices.

We're committed to your financial wellbeing

We're a champion of The Workplace Financial Wellbeing Pledge, provided by the Money & Pensions Service and provide information, advice and guidance to support the financial wellbeing of our employees.
